Essential question: What were the key features of the Egyptian society and what innovations were developed?
Answer: Some key features of Egyptian society were the social classes. the Pharaoh, priests, and government officials were on the top. Farmers and craftsmen were in the middle. Slaves and prisoners were on the bottom, and some inventions that were developed were hieroglyphics, the 12 month solar calendar, sails, and paper. The invention of the hieroglyphics was very important to the Egyptians because it allowed people to communicate with out going all the way across the city to talk to a friend. Also the invention of hieroglyphics was crucial because it was the foundation of our own writing although
Mesopotamia started writing first the Egyptians werde first to use pictographs. Hieroglyphics changed to Latin which changed to English and shaped our own form of writing. |

Another invention credited by the Egyptians is the 365-day calendar. This is a vital part of our society today, in keeping time. Instead of following the lunar calendar, like most ancient civilizations, the Egyptians followed the solar calendar, devising a system of twelve months with thirty days each. Five extra days was added later.
The Egyptians also invented medical tools. The surgical tools were for helping heal people. The embalming process helped the Egyptians learn more about the body since they had to remove the lungs, liver, and heart. They knew how to mend broken bones, make stitches, and use bandages because of the embalming process.
Ancient Egyptians also invented the world's first eye makeup. It was called kohl and used for fashion purposes and to protect them from the harsh desert sun. (Egyptian Make Up) It was made out of soot and other things, mixed with water, and applied to your eye.
One more thing the Egyptians invented was the sail. This revolutionized transportation across water, and let them travel across the Nile without using rowers. This invention was inevitable; living so close to the Nile, they would have had to devise another system, had they not thought of this.

This is the social structure. It is like a pyramid.
The ancient Egyptians made many advancements in medical technology such as healing broken bones, making stitches, and curing diseases. They had the best doctors of the age. Their doctors learned all this from making mummies. They had to cut open the bodies to remove the organs, and figured out how things worked in the body. However, in some cases, when there was no obvious sign of an illness, they would put it down to a supernatural occurrence. They would utter spells and make potions to drive any unwanted spirits away from the body. So the ancient Egyptians' medicine was a mix of religion and science.
If I could be anyone in Egypt I would be a noble because I would be rich and be favored by the Pharaoh and I would own a lot of land. Also I would be able to buy a lot of fine clothes and a fine house that I could live in. There are many advantages of this position like the ones I just mentioned. Also there are some disadvantages like you might have to pay more tax and more rent because of all the money and land I could have and lose a large amount of my money and of course I would not want that.
Inventions
The ancient Egyptians advanced in mathematics which helped them to build pyramids because pyramids require geography and mathematics because of the structure of the pyramids.
The Ancient Egyptian shaduf helped the Egyptians lift water out of the Nile river and this was convenient because it helped them take more water out of the river at a time. This helped them use time more efficiently.
The ancient Egyptians oxen plow was important
because it allowed them to loosen soil and the oxen pull as the farmers steer the oxen. The loose soil makes it easier to plant seeds. The ancient Egyptians papyrus sheets were important because it "set the stone" for our paper nowadays and was easier to write on than hard stone blocks that they used to use.
The ancient Egyptians medical instruments helped them perform treatments and helped them to embalm people and learn more about the human body. Also these medical instruments paved the path for modern surgery.

The daily life of Ancient Egypt had Men the heads of their households and they work to support the family. Women typically managed the home and raised the children. Egyptian Society was structured like a pyramid. The groups near the top had the most power. The order of the social class was the Pharaoh, Government Officials, Priests, Scribes, Artisans, Peasants, farmers, slaves
An Egyptian scribe is a person who writes out scripts and knows how to read and wright. The scribes used reed pens dipped in ink and papyrus (a paper made out of papyrus
leaves). Being an Egyptian scribe was hard work because of all the hard training it takes the training was up to five years. Most often it was the children of scribes who became scribes. Although some craftsmen were able to get their sons into the school for scribes, it was very rare. The Ancient Egyptian society was organized into social classes. The high class the middle class and the low class. The order of the social classes was like this, first the Pharaoh the ruler of the people. Then the priests, Government officials, and nobles. Then solders, then scribes, then merchants, then craftsmen, then farmers slaves and prisoners.
